I picked this CD up at Wellington Airport as it was in a recommended selection where the store had posted copies of a couple of reviews as well. About two years later I caught Mr Slim for two sets at the Byron Bay Music Festival. He was an engaging performer whom obviously had a few miles on him and proved that white men can sing the blues. Like Seasick Steve, another white bluesman discovered late in life you certainly get the feeling he as lived the blues, had some Hard Times and seen the inside of a Dumpster, been on the wrong side of few women with his Check Writing Woman. His follow up album "The Wheel Man" was just as good.
