In the late 50's and early 60's a number of singers and songwriters had some prolific runs of not only hits but also songs that have embedded themselves in our collective conscience. Chuck Berry, Buddy Holly and Sam Cooke spring to mind - not just one or two songs but whole albums of what are now quite rightfully considered classics. Sam Cooke's 1964 hit A Change is Gonna Come was originally only a B- Side but has proven to have a longer life than the A-Side Shake. It quickly became the theme for the Civil Rights Movement and has been covered many times. Over the years I have picked up versions by Graham Parker, the Neville Brothers, Dylan, the Band, and Otis Redding.
