Always liked this song. Drift Away was written by Mentor Williams who revived Gray's career after success in the mid 60's with The In Crowd. I found out recently that Mentor was Paul Williams' brother - the short dude from Phantom of the Paradise who wrote MOR seventies hits like Just an old Fashioned Love Song We've Only Just Begun, Rainy Days and Mondays and most critically The Muppets' Rainbow Connection. Drift Away is (almost) as good as them. Actually it's better!
